Emma Carol Dahl, daughter of Lewis & Anna Dahl, was born on June 10, 1899, in Norman County, Minnesota. She is listed in the census documents from 1900, 1905, 1910 and 1920 with her parents and siblings.
Selmer Rage, son of Johannes & Guenalia Rage, was born February 16, 1897, in Norman County, Minnesota. He is listed with his parents and siblings in McDonaldsville Township, Norman County, MN in the census records from 1900, 1910.
During WWI, he was drafted and served as a private in the US Army from October 23, 1918 until his discharge December 24, 1918, as seen from his Draft Card and Veterans Bureau Record.
The 1920, census shows the family still living in McDonaldsville Township. His parents died in 1923. The 1930 census shows Selmer as the Head of Household, living at the same location with his two sisters and his brother.
On June 10, 1930, Emma Dahl married Selmer Rage. MOMS (Minnesota Official Marriage System) lists Marriage Certificate Number 09-536 in Norman County for SELMER J RAGE and EMMA CAROLINA DAHL with a Marriage Date of 06/10/1930.
They lived on Selmer’s farm (at center of map) very near Ada, Minnesota, farming and raising their two sons: Jerome and Vernon. The family is listed in the 1940 and 1950 US Census records.
Sadly, Selmer died February 4, 1956. His interment was at the Ada Cemetery.
The widowed Emma (Dahl) Rage met Edgar Helgemoe, the son of Arnt & Mathilde Helgemoe, who was born April 2, 1896, at Peterson, Fillmore County, Minnesota. He was born Jens Edgar Helgemoe and is listed with his parents and siblings in the census records of 1900, 1905, 1910, and 1920, living in Norway Township, Fillmore County. He is seen living with his brother and his brother’s family in the same township in the 1930 and 1940 census records, and they are living in Rushford, Minnesota in the 1950 census record. Census records list him as a farmer and laborer.
Edgar served in the U.S. Army as a Private from July 25, 1918 until his discharge on July 8, 1919.
On June 28, 1959, Emma married Edgar Helgemoe (1896-1983). MOMS (Minnesota Official Marriage System) lists the Marriage Certificate Number 15-247 in Norman County for JENS EDGAR HELGEMOE and EMMA CAROLINE RAGE with a Marriage Date of 06/28/1959.
After their marriage, Emma and Edgar lived in Moorhead, Minnesota.
Emma died December 6, 1979. Edgar died January 18, 1983. Burial for each of them was at the Ada Cemetery in Ada, Minnesota.
