Minnie Annette Dahl, daughter of Lewis & Anna Dahl, was born on August 29, 1893 in Norman County, Minnesota. She is listed with her parents and one sibling in the 1895 Census. She is also listed in the census records for 1900, 1905, 1910 and 1920, but with an increasing number of siblings on each one. It is likely that she was very helpful to her parents as she grew, with farm work and with caring for her younger siblings.
Helmer Melvin Eastvold was born to John and Minna (Langum) Eastvold on September 11, 1893. He is listed in the 1900 US Census, living with his father, siblings and an uncle and aunt in Lodi Township in Mower County, Minnesota, but it indicated that he was born in Iowa. Sadly, his mother, Mina, had died the month before that census was taken. His father, John, then married Mina’s sister, Claudia. In 1909 his father, Jon, also died. The 1910 Census record shows Helmer living with his aunt/step-mother, and his sister and brothers, in the same township.
Minnie and Helmer were married on February 21, 1923. The Minnesota Official Marriage System (MOMS) confirms that date and lists their marriage certificate number as 08-448 in Norman County, Minnesota. They are listed on the 1930 Census in Rockwell Township.

They farmed east of Borup in Norman County, Minnesota, and raised their family there. Minnie and Helmer’s children were: John Leonard (1923-1923), Clifford Alton (1925-2017), Mildred Angeline (1927-2020), Helen Margaret (1930-2017), Harold Leland (1937-1939), and a daughter (living).
